In a castle high on top of a hill lives an inventor's greatest creation which is Edward, a non person. The creator died on Christmas Eve before he could finish Edward's hands; instead, Edward is left with metal scissors for hands. Finding Edward who is unique and alone, Peg decides to bring Edward back with her into society. Edward makes a good impression and even falls in love with Peg's high school daughter Kim, but after a robbery, Edward as the culprit, things in his life begin to go downhill and Kim finally understands his feelings.
In Tim Burton’s film he cast the role of Edward to his close and personal friend Jonny Depp, along with Winona Ryder (Kim) and Dianna Wiest (peg).
The setting of this film is in America, a fantasy village with bight houses which look like Barbie’s house it’s like a mad but beautiful village. Then you come to the end of the village where there lives Edward in a castle. This is a dark scary almost creepy castle or mansion even. The two setting are very different one bright and happy and the other dark and creepy. The setting shows how unique the film is and how it shows Edward as his new life exploring the new world. The village is how a fantasy village is meant to be like a over the top village as the cars come out at the same time come back at the same time.
The film is about how this non real person learning how to cope in real life and when peg takes him under her arm he becomes a star. He stars to cut hair and animals and soon he buys a salon to start his career. But then all his dreams change when he is forced to break into Jim home and gets a criminal record. He did this as he had fallen in love with peg’s daughter Kim and in the end they fall in love and Kim leaves as Edward kills Jim and Kim doesn’t see him ever again. The film is about loving and caring but it also has an element of it doesn’t matter what you look like you are the same as on another.
The film used lots of creepy and happy sounds in every scene this describes the mood of the characters in the film at this point. The film uses very different music to normal films and it makes you want to watch the rest of the film.
I think this film was very interesting and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It showed me that you can’t judge a book buy its cover and every one is different and we have to treat them the same no matter what.
